This year’s Saratoga meet ends not with a bang, but a whimper. The issues affecting this year’s meet will linger for quite some time, I imagine, and for the first time I can remember, the end of the Spa racing season is being met not with tears or asking where the time went, but with sighs of relief.

My final bankroll section, in the past, has focused on saying “thank you.” That remains important this year. I’m extremely appreciative of everyone who stuck with me through some rough times earlier this summer and came back when I started posting my stuff again after a two-week absence.

In addition, I’d like to send a special note of thanks to Joe Boyle. You may have seen that name in this section before. He’s been the sports editor at The Saratogian, The Troy Record, and The Pink Sheet for several years, and he’s finishing up his tour of duty in the coming days. If you think it’s easy editing three sports sections at once, try it sometime. This guy did a LOT of work over the past few years, and I wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.

SUNDAY’S RESULTS: I did something that’s very hard to do. In concentrating on the last three races, I gave you three runners-up in a row. That’s good for nothing but a laugh, though, and I dropped $28.

MONDAY’S PLAY: It’s closing day, so we’re playing all three Pick Fours. My 50-cent tickets look like this:
